Narrative
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A wrong-way accident on the interstate near the Stockyards in Oklahoma City killed two people on Thursday night.
Crews responded to the crash around 9 p.m. on the eastbound side of I-40, or the Crosstown Expressway, near South Pennsylvania Avenue.
The investigation indicates that a westbound driver attempted to pass slower vehicles by entering the eastbound lane of traffic, at which point the westbound vehicle collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle. The force of the collision pushed the eastbound vehicle into a concrete barrier in the median.
Officials say that two people died in the accident. Their identities have not yet been released to the public.
