Narrative
STILLWATER, OK – A 19-year-old OSU student died on Thursday when a vehicle struck her at a busy intersection on the north side of campus.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. at Monroe Street and Cantwell Avenue, which is just west of the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center.
Police say that the driver of a while pickup truck hit the pedestrian while she was crossing the street inside of a designated crosswalk. The driver of the pickup truck then fled the scene.
Authorities identified the victim as Gabrielle Claudia Long.
Stillwater Police located and arrested the driver of pickup, identified as 21-year-old Tyler Peters, within a mile or two of the crash site. Peters faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
